A Pleasure to Take. Small, easy-to-swallow tablets, with a pleasant herbal aroma. No "burp-up" or "medicine" aftertaste. You'll look forward to taking this pleasing product. Remember, if a multi smells like "vitamins", then certain B-vitamins are already degraded, because fresh vitamins from the manufacturer have almost no odor. Quick-Dissolving Technology. Tablets dissolve quickly in plain water assuring complete assimilation-important if you think you may have trouble digesting tablets. Bioavailability Enhanced. What good are premium ingredients if they are hard to absorb? DVPP contains a full 5 mg/6 tabs of Sabinsa Corporation's patented Bioperine®+: the amount studied that showed enhanced bioavailability of other nutrients. Other aids to enhanced nutrient availability include: bromelain, papain, digestive enzymes, certain spices such as clove and ginger which may act as traditional "carriers" or potentiators of other herbs, and MSM, a sulfur containing dietary ingredient related to the natural solvent DMSO. Premium Active Forms of Nutrients. Quality ingredients include: Natural fish oil and premium red palm beta carotene-not the synthetic form, 100 IU of natural Vitamin E along with mixed tocopherols (as occurs in nature), premium energy releasing coenzymal forms of certain B-complex vitamins including riboflavin 5'phosphate; pyridoxal 5'phosphate, the costly methylcobalamin (not the cheaper, less absorbable cyanocobalamin), pantethine and pantothenic acid. Also with ATP producing d-ribose, and L-carnitine to help metabolize fats in the cell, and a full 10 mg of coenzyme Q10-a component of our energy (ATP) producing mitochondria of our cells, zinc as premium monomethionine chelate, selenium as the highly bioavailable L-selenomethionine, and several organically bound amino acid mineral and trace mineral chelates; four forms of lead-free calcium (50% D.V.), and four forms of magnesium (59% D.V.) for optimal nutrient biodiversity. Complete Nutrient Antioxidant Arsenal. Some nutrients double as free radical quenching antioxidants, important to help prevent premature cellular aging. DVPP is a high potency antioxidant Vitamin A, C and E supplement. One serving supplies 2500 IU of natural fish oil Vitamin A, and 2500 IU of natural beta carotene from red palm with mixed carotenoids. Not present is the far less desirable synthetic beta carotene which does not contain the mixed carotenoids. Vitamin C is supplied in both the biochemically reducing ascorbic acid form, and its neutral pH calcium ascorbate form. Vitamin E is found in its natural stable esterfied succinate form, and also as mixed tocopherols. Some tocopherols are more active antioxidants than the standard d-alpha form. Vitamin E occurs as mixed tocopherols naturally in foods-never as just the d-alpha form. One serving daily also supplies100% D.V. of selenium from L-selenomethionine, and zinc from premium monomethionine chelate, and a full 25 mg of alpha lipoic acid. Beyond Token Amounts of Antioxidant Phytonutrients. Each daily pack supplies 48 mg of proanthocyanidins from grape seeds, 20 mg of silymarin from milk thistle, and 25 mg of standardized curcuminoid extract from turmeric. There is a polyphenol antioxidant base of standardized extracts of olive leaf and bilberry leaf, also rutin, citrus bioflavonoid complex, blueberry juice concentrate, hesperiden complex, standardized Ginkgo leaf extract, and standardized lycopene and lutein, and 25 mg of alpha lipoic acid-an antioxidant also involved in cellular ATP energy production. Certain spices such as clove, ginger and cinnamon also have polyphenol antioxidant properties. Complete Digestive Enzyme Plus Pack. One daily pack includes 207 mg of bromelain, papain, protease, acid protease, amylase, lipase, lactase, as well as digestive supporting fructo-oligosaccharides, ginger root, clove, peppermint and spearmint essential oils. Declared separately on the label is 10 mg of 200:1 standardized aloe leaf gel concentrate (derived from 2000 mg of whole aloe juice). Complete Super Greens Pack. One daily pack includes 550 mg of greens and green concentrates with chlorophyll and a full spectrum of micro trace minerals from oceanic and land sources including: Spirulina pacifica (premium Hawaiian ocean water grown), wheat and barley grass juice powder (the juice: not just ground up grass), cracked cell chlorella, green flowering oat straw, broccoli, and whole green stevia leaf. Heart Healthy Nutrients. DVPP contains several methyl donor nutrients including high potency Vitamin B12 (as the expensive coezymal methylcobalamin form). DVPP is an excellent source of folate, and also a high potency Vitamin B6 supplement as both pyridoxine HCl and the coenzymal (ready to use metabolically) pyridoxial 5'phosphate form. As part of a well-balanced diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, folic acid, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 may reduce the risk of vascular disease. The FDA evaluated the above claim and found that, while it is known that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol reduce the risk of heart disease and other vascular diseases, the evidence in support of the above claim is inconclusive. Source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. DVPP also comes with one high quality softgel cap supplying 1000 mg (1g) of coldwater fish oils from various sources including sardine, anchovy, mackerel, salmon, and herring. Each soft gel supplies 300 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids act as necessary substrates for energy production for certain B vitamins including thiamin and niacin. The body can eventually convert alpha linolenic acid (as found in walnuts, flax, canola) into EPA-assuming intact and undisturbed enzyme systems. However, preformed EPA as found in fish oils eliminates this slower metabolic conversion step, and gives ready-to-use substrate available for B vitamin energy production. However, fish oil supplementation should not be overdone, as fish oils being highly unsaturated can be subject to rancidity (free radical damage). This is one major reason DVPP supplies such a broad spectrum of fat and water soluble antioxidants in its tablets intended to be simultaneously supplemented with the fish oil soft gel-and also why the soft gel includes d-alpha tocopherol. Some fish oil products that are unprotected by antioxidants, and improperly stored or processed can contain high levels of lipid peroxides and thereby stress the body's antioxidant defense mechanism. A person may do better eating clean, cold water fish and supplementing with walnuts, flax oil, or quality canola or soy oil to further increase EPA levels- without consuming excess fish oil subject to rancidity. Excess fish oils may also elevate blood sugar and cholesterol in certain individuals. Omitting Undesirable Ingredients. A quality general purpose multiple should deliberately omit added iron, as supplemental iron may initiate free-radical damage in certain individuals, and also in supplements containing unsaturated oils. Iron, furthermore, requires a poison warning for infants and children. The high red meat diet of Americans assures that they will usually get all the iron they need-if not an excess. Strongly medicinal herbs like Echinacea, golden seal, and Cascara do not belong in a daily multiple, but are customarily taken for a short time period, for a specific purpose, before being discontinued. Also, medicinal mushrooms should not be included in a daily multiple and should only be supplemented for a specific purpose, for a limited time. The DVPP deliberately omits added artificial colors, dyes, flavors, preservatives, and other unnecessary chemicals often added to dietary supplements that are useful for the tablet maker-but not desirable for our bodies.
